Famous Kentuckian Colonel Sanders
Hello, my name is Colonel Harland Sanders. I was born on September 9, 1890 in Henryville, Indiana. My parents were Wilbert and Margaret Sanders. I was married to Claudia Price and we had 3 children.
I am famous because I developed a secret recipe of 11 herbs and spices and pressure fried my chicken. I started out cooking my chicken in a gas station in Corbin, Kentucky in 1903. Before I started my chicken business I was a steamboat pilot and a railroad fireman. Today my secret recipe is locked in a vault in Louisville, Kentucky. The herbs are mixed in 3 different places so nobody knows the exact recipe. I sold my restaurants for $2 million. There are KFCs in 105 countries all around the world. I donated a lot of my money to charities. Like I always said, “There’s no reason to be the richest man in the cemetery. You can’t do business from there.”
I died on December 16, 1980 from pneumonia.
